Good news
The good news is that I did not have an ounce of jet lag!
Staying awake for 24 hours and then going to bed at 7:30 PM once arriving home from the airport was the key. I was still tired the next day, the day our company arrived, but I again went to bed early, by 9:00, and have slept well ever since. That is the first time I’ve ever returned from Europe and beaten it!
We had a wonderful time with Dave’s brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Beth.
We checked out Cubs Park in Mesa which replaced the old Hohokam Stadium and is now of the home of the Chicago Cubs for spring training.
We visited the Desert Botanical Gardens for the Chihuly in the Garden event.
If you haven’t seen it yet, it is a must.
It runs through May 18, 2014.
We spent an afternoon “brewery hopping” visiting The Phoenix Ale Brewery and Four Peaks Brewing Company‘s new Tasting Room on Wilson.
Thankfully, one of us isn’t the biggest beer fan, so she was the designated driver. If you haven’t guessed – that would be me.
We took in a spring training game at Salt River Fields. Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Chicago Cubs. Our DBacks put on a home-run fest and beat the Cubs 14 to 4.
Most of all, we soaked in the beautiful weather, and Tom and Beth enjoyed the pool and hot tub.
The snowbirds returned to Chicago yesterday, to snow, and now I’m back in the swing of things.
Yesterday, I was finally able to visit Tram and the twins, Zak and Zoey! Mother and babies are doing wonderful and looking beautiful! I’d love to take credit for this fabulous photo, but believe it or not, it was taken by Tram’s 9-year-old niece! I was too busy catching up with Tram and holding babies to take any photos. Next time!
Now that the “travel log” is complete, look forward to a return to recipes next week. Wishes for a wonderful weekend. xoxo
