Recipe #2 from Christmas Potluck

Tram and Steve chose this next recipe and it was a true crowd-pleaser! Although each guest is only asked to bring a single recipe of each dish, good thing they decided to make a double batch. So Good!

Although I am linking the original recipe from Grilled Cheese Social, I have also copy and pasted and cleaned it up a bit because there are SO MANY ads and popups on the original site. LINK

Pizza Sliders with Pepperoni & Hot Honey

  • Non-stick baking spray
  • One 12-pack Original Kings Hawaiian Rolls
  • 1 heaping cup purchased marinara sauce
  • 1 cup low-moisture mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, hand torn
  • 3 ounces pepperoni slices
  • 1/2 stick butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon fresh peeled and diced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3 tablespoons hot honey

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray then add the bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls.

Spread marinara sauce over the top then sprinkle with both of the mozzarella cheeses. Finish with an even layer of pepperoni.

Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, stir together the melted butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, and the grated parmesan. Set aside.

Once the buns are done and the pepperoni has crisped up, remove from the oven. Drizzle the hot honey over evenly, now top with the top halves of the buns.

Brush the butter mixture evenly over the tops of the buns so that each Hawaiian roll is coated.

Put back in the oven and bake for 10 more minutes to crisp up the top buns.

Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Any favorite brands of marinara or hot honey? For the former, I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about Rao’s, which has recently been discounted at Sprouts. Still, I usually make my own, so it’s hard to spend $7.50 on a jar of sauce.

Yes, love Rao’s. Sometime’s Costco carries Rao’s. Mike’s Hot Honey is great.
