Mama’s Fish House
I’m a bit tardy in getting today’s post up… yesterday was a looong and somewhat painful day on the Big Island. I don’t want to focus on that today, since I’m looking back at Maui. I’ll tell and show you (show and tell) about the painful but extraordinary experience in the days to come.
In the previous post, I told you about our drive down the Road to Hana. On the way back, we stopped at the famed Mama’s Fish House.
We were told that if there was one place you Must eat in Maui, it was Mama’s. Thank you to everyone who directed us there!
Not only is the food outstanding, fresh, well prepared, and expertly presented, but somehow the atmosphere is upscale without being at all stuffy. It is relaxing and laid-back. The decor is so eclectic, that it’s a true feast for the eyes.
And the views… you can not say enough about the views and location of this gem!
Breathtaking!
Even the extra rolls of toilet paper in the ladies’ restrooms are made-up to be pretty…
… with real flowers. Yes, I felt them!
I started with a Kaua Cooler. A refreshing tropical cocktail with Lilikoi (passion fruit), lemonade, mango vodka, and cranberry juice.
David ordered the Ahi Sashimi Salad; tuna sashimi with fried wonton strips, mixed greens, crumbled wasabi goat cheese, and roasted sesame seeds tossed in a Maui honey and Dijon mustard dressing. A light bright salad with a lot of texture.
I had the Seared Ahi Sashimi with Pineapple-Tamarind Sauce. It was perfectly cooked and the chunky pineapple sauce was perfect, but I should have ordered something more substantial. I was envious of Dave’s pretty salad.
All I can say is Go To Mama’s!
OK, the WiFi here at the B&B is spotty at best and it’s taken me nearly 90 minutes to post this much… the rest of Maui in the next post.
Aloha.
