life
I haven’t been posting much this week for several reasons…
I’m hosting a bridal shower on Saturday and I’ve been trying to get ready for it, but it hasn’t been easy. It’s been a busy two weeks since the last bridal shower we hosted here on January 24th.
Sadly, not a “good” busy. During these two weeks, I lost my Aunt Patty. Patty was my mom’s youngest sister. My mom is the oldest of eight and Patty was #8. She was only 61 years old.
Here’s a photo from many years ago. Patty is the second from the left, in the flowered mini-dress. My sister, Sloane, is in front of Patty, in the checked dress. And I am the tallest of the kids, in the pink dress. It cracks me up how my cousin, Tammy, is the only person smiling and showing teeth in this photo. Strange!
Patty’s funeral was on Friday, last week. Sadly, that same day, Dave lost his Aunt Marie. Marie lived in Madison, Wisconsin, and was 78. She too was the youngest in the family.
Both of our aunts will be missed by their loving families.
Then… to add insult to injury, my mom, who is 79 and has Alzheimer’s, fell and shattered her kneecap on Super Bowl Sunday. Sloane and I have spent the better part of the last four days at the hospital with her. She had surgery on Tuesday and is recovering. Mom was released today and is now in a skilled nursing facility for at least the next couple of weeks.
So, yeah, it’s not been a good busy. I hope to change that today as I do what I love to do… and get ready for a wonderful bridal shower for Megan, my dear friend Laura’s daughter.

Dear Linda, I have been in your class and I follow your blog, but you probably don’t know me. Your blog today struck a chord since you and I share many similarities with our families. Just want you to know I’m thinking of you and the sweet sorrow you carry today. Hopefully the joy of tomorrow’s shower serves as a perfect elixir for your sadness. I will also be looking forward to your post!
