I promise, last Kansas post
One last post, a pictorial actually, about Kansas and our trip last weekend for my dad’s Otter Family Reunion.
Then tomorrow, I’ll give you info on a recipe to NOT make. I bet you can hardly wait…
Check out the price to ride this awesome vintage kiddie ride mechanical and coin-operated horse. One Cent! Just like it advertises on the base of the ride. One penny. Love It!
Grain silos every which way you look.
Old family photos, a family reunion classic.
Huge bails of hay… my sister is nearly six feet tall, these were big. I have a video of her climbing up on there too, but we’ll keep that in the family.
“Amber waves of grain.” America the Beautiful!
The headstone of Dad’s grandparents’ grave. This is his grandmother’s marker and on the other side is his grandfather’s. Look closely and you can see the church in the background.
Beautiful St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Almelo, Kansas, was established in 1908.
Pretty shadow at a memorial.
Gene and his daughters. It looks as though a wind turbine is growing out of my head! Dad’s cousin, Al Otter, kindly took this photo and was our sweet and entertaining travel companion on our drives between Wichita and Norton.
Lastly…
Sloane, getting a warning from a very nice and understanding highway patrolman on our drive back to Wichita early Sunday morning. She was going 84 in a 75.
Luckily, we’d switched drivers about 50 miles back… I’d been going 88 in a 75. Fond farewell to The Sunflower State.

How did he feel about you taking a memorial photo?
Good Times!
Ronnie, if you mean the photo of the highway patrolman, he did not know I was taking his photo, I pretended that I was texting. Otherwise, I’m guessing I may have been the one to get the warning!
